Nanocoating System Expanded
P2i, a company specializing in liquid-repellent nano-coating technology, worked with Hearing Lab Technology to increase its production through the use of a 40-L system. The system will assist Hearing Lab Technology by increasing the volume of hearing aid devices, headsets, and other electronics treated with nanocoating. The nanocoating, called Aridion, protects hearing aids from water and corrosion.
Amplified Cell Phone Now Available
Clarity, a creator of communication solutions for senior citizens, has launched Pal, an amplified cell phone designed for older consumers. Pal has 25 dB of amplified sound, a large dial pad, and a one-touch emergency button. Boost and adjustable tone control buttons are also available to customize the listening experience.
The phone also features a 2-in LCD color display, talking caller ID, and flashing visual ringers that vibrate and flash when receiving an incoming call. The phone can be purchased for $99.99.
New Hearing Protection for Industrial Safety
Westone Laboratories, Inc., which manufactures custom hearing protection, has launched a new line of DefendEar custom hearing protection specifically designed and NRR-rated for industrial safety. Four models give industrial safety officers the ability to design a hearing conservation plan that matches their environment's noise and avoids the known safety implications of overprotecting workers.
The DefendEar Max, Lite, Convertible, and Convertible Comm are the core models in the new product line. All DefendEar industrial hearing production earpieces use Westone's proprietary OtoBlast medical-grade silicone and Slick-Sil AM antimicrobial coating to achieve the perfect combination of durability, attenuation, and comfort. Westone will exhibit these products, as well as other models in the DefendEar HPD product line, at the American Society of Safety Engineers 2012 Exposition in Denver June 3-5.
China to Sell Integrity V500 System
Vivosonic, an audiological equipment manufacturer, has received regulatory approval from the State Food and Drug Administration of the People's Republic of China to sell the Integrity V500 System in China.
The system will be sold through the KAM Healthcare Group, which provides audiological equipment, hearing instruments, and hearing services in China, Macau, Hong Kong, and other countries. A new 40-Hz, event-related potential test has been developed for audiology practices in China, and will be available on the Integrity V500 system.
