Classics in Endocrinology

Sawin, Clark T. MD

This issue’s classic is barely one page in length, but, at least in retrospect, it established the fact that tetany as a result of removal of the parathyroid glands might be caused by hypocalcemia because the tetany was reversed by the injection of calcium salts [1]. It took time for the findings to be accepted, but they are now a commonplace of endocrinology.
