This presentation makes use of the professional materials of Paul Randall Harrington (1911–1980), which he willed to his alma mater, the University of Kansas. There they are preserved by the Department of History and Philosophy of Medicine and its Archives, Nancy Hulston, Archivist.

The picture in Figure 3 was taken by Owen Johnson and appeared in the November 14, 1960 issue of Time magazine. The Time website states, “Because generally does not own the copyright to any of the photographs on our site, we cannot grant you permission to use the photographs.” Owen Johnson is deceased. We have tried and cannot locate any of his heirs.
