Briefly Noted: PDF OnlyFirst Thoracic Disc ProtrusionKUMAR, R FRCS (Glas); BUCKLEY, T F MD, FRCS Author Information From the Department of Neurological Surgery, Cork Regional Hospital, Cork, Ireland Spine: June 1986 - Volume 11 - Issue 5 - p 499-501 Buy Abstract First thoracic disc protrusion is rare. Only 12 cases have been described. The rarity of the condition is probably due to relative immobility of the spine at this level. The disc protrusion is invariably lateral causing radiculopathy. Antecedent trauma is rare. Horner's syndrome may be an associated feature. Good results follow disc excision using a posterior approach. © Lippincott-Raven Publishers.
