Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (IUMS), the owner and sponsor of the journal, is one of the world's oldest universities specializing in basic medical sciences, clinical science, and health services, located in historical city of Isfahan, Iran. IUMS, one of the most prominent and highly prestigious medical universities in Iran, provides undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs in more than 10 faculties and about 75 main departments. The student body consists of students from all provinces of Iran and some foreign countries. Funding for Isfahan University of Medical Sciences is provided by the government and through some private investments. IUMS, one of the most prominent and highly prestigious medical universities in Iran, provides and fosters innovative research that advances medical knowledge and translates new discoveries to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities. IUMS is currently publishes fourteen peer reviewed scientific journals in different disciplines of medical sciences. Online management services for editorial workflow of university journals were established in 2004 and became fully operational by 2005.
In 1955, the Faculty of Medicine was permitted to establish the School of Pharmacy, one of the nine established schools in the university. In 1958 the School of Pharmacy became independent.
The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences consists of seven departments including Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Clinical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, and Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice. The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences also has a Research Center Complex consists of Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Center, Novel Drug Delivery Research Center, and Bioinformatics Research Center since that time.
