Architectural alterations, assessed with a novel macular hole segmentation algorithm, identified included increased macular hole volume, increased base area, and expanded subretinal hyporeflectance after membrane peeling. Intraoperative macular hole geometric measurements were associated with visual outcome and successful hole closure.
