For clinically focused rehabilitation nurses, application of research findings to their practice is of utmost importance in improving quality of care. This collection includes a variety of articles that can be applied to practice. Anosognosia is a troubling complication post-stroke that is often difficult for both the patient and nurse to understand. An article in this collection prepares nurses to care for patients with this affliction. Other articles in this collection address tube feedings in patients on a rehab unit, what types of physical function and exercise best predict adherence to those programs, and an evidence-based nurse-driven protocol to reduce acute care transfer admissions from a rehab facility setting.

Neurological disorders are the leading cause of disability worldwide, and Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the fastest growing of these disorders. In the U.S. the prevalence of PD has grown more than 50% in the last 5 years. Because of the continued growth of PD, healthcare providers need state-of-the-art evidence to provide better care to these persons. This collection includes an article that addresses the fall risk factors in people with PD. Quality of life (QOL) and health-related quality of life of persons with PD are addressed through three different lenses, sociodemographic factors, general factors affecting QOL and how an exercise program and telephone based motivational counseling may improve QOL in persons with PD.
