Call for Papers on Root Cause, Failure Modes and Related Methods of Analysis of Sentinel Events
Quality Management in Health Care (QMHC) is inviting papers on methods of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and related techniques for analysis of sentinel or rare adverse events. In the past three decades, we have seen an increasing role for Root Cause Analysis in health care but little change in rates of adverse events. The journal is interested in documenting the evidence for effectiveness of Root Cause Analysis. Also over the last three decades, there has been an explosion of papers on causal analysis (e.g., propensity scoring and causal networks). The journal is interested in papers that apply modern causal analysis to understand root causes of sentinel events. Submissions may be exploratory and may describe data barriers for quantitative analysis of rare events. Papers could also compare current methods of Root Cause Analysis to modern methods of causal analysis. The deadline for submissions is June 1st, 2020.
