The video demonstrates surgeon-administered local anesthesia in preparation for endoscopic carpal tunnel release (ECTR). The author has been using local anesthesia for single portal ECTR since 1991 and the technique described here reflects the accumulated experience of this time. The specific goals of the approach are to provide patient comfort and maintain a clear visual field for the endoscope. Specific steps illustrate how to administer the local anesthesia without flooding the surgical field and potentially obscuring the view of vital structures.
