THE PEDIATRIC HAND SYMPOSIUM

The Pediatric Hand Symposium will be held February 6 through 7, 2009, in Genval (Brussels), Belgium, under director F. Schuind. With a special emphasis on pediatric traumas and infections, tumors, and congenital spasticity, the symposium will aim to summarize current knowledge of fetal and pediatric development of the hand and upper extremity, discuss new treatments for hand traumas and conditions, discuss rehabilitation and objective outcomes assessment in children, and formulate recommendations for the medical community, among other things. 29th ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR LASER MEDICINE AND SURGERY: LASER '09

PATIENT SAFETY IN AESTHETIC SURGERY OF THE BREAST AND BODY

KYOTO BREAST CANCER CONSENSUS CONFERENCE INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION 2009

The Kyoto Breast Cancer Consensus Conference International Convention 2009 will be held April 16 through 18, 2009, in Kyoto, Japan. Professor Masakazu Toi, from the Japanese Breast Cancer Research Group, and his scientific team at Kyoto University are proud to launch this exciting new consensus meeting. Improving breast cancer treatment as well as patients' quality of life is the main objective of this meeting, which aims to provide the platform for participants to share and discuss fundamentals and best practices. The program will address several issues in the local management of primary breast cancer, including axillary diagnosis and treatment, treatment for ductal carcinoma in situ, local therapy after preoperative systemic treatment, radiotherapy issues, and prediction of disease spread. JOINT MEETING OF THE 7th WORLD CONGRESS ON MELANOMA AND THE 5th CONGRESS OF THE EUROPEAN ASSOCIATION OF DERMATO-ONCOLOGY

The Joint Meeting of the 7th World Congress on Melanoma and the 5th Congress of the European Association of Dermato-Oncology will be held May 12 through 16, 2009, at the Hofburg Conference Center, in Vienna, Austria. JOHN D. CONSTABLE INTERNATIONAL TRAVELING FELLOWSHIP IN PLASTIC SURGERY

The John D. Constable International Traveling Fellowship in Plastic Surgery is available for its second year. The fellowship is intended to provide an opportunity for international plastic surgeons to come to the United States as an observer for 6 to 12 weeks under the auspices of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, in order to improve the fellow's understanding of American plastic surgery, and to promote good will and academic interchange among the international and American surgical communities. Candidates must be fully trained in their respective country in plastic surgery, a member in good standing of their national society, and have been in practice in their country for a minimum of 5 years. They must be able to communicate well in both written and spoken English and must be sponsored by two members of their national society where appropriate. Applications should be submitted no later than January 30, 2009.
