Discussion: Risk Factor Analysis for Capsular Contracture A 5-Year Sientra Study Analysis Using Round, Smooth, and Textured Implants for Breast Augmentation

Erratum

For the November 2013 Cosmetic Discussion by David A. Hidalgo entitled “Discussion: Risk Factor Analysis for Capsular Contracture: A 5-Year Sientra Study Analysis Using Round, Smooth, and Textured Implants for Breast Augmentation” (Plast Reconstr Surg. 2013;132:1124–1125), the financial disclosure provided by the author and published is complete for any current studies. To provide a comprehensive, complete historic perspective on this Discussion, the Editor-in-Chief will update the disclosure statement with the following information:

“Prior to voluntarily withdrawing, the author served as a compensated Mentor Investigator in 2003 by enrolling 2 patients to the Mentor Contour Profile Gel (CPG) Study, as reported in ‘The Mentor Study on Contour Profile Gel Silicone MemoryGel Breast Implants’ (Plast Reconstr Surg. 2007;120(Suppl 1):33S–39S). Verified by Mentor Worldwide LLC.”

The second paragraph of this Discussion contained material that should not have appeared in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as the author’s role as a peer reviewer of the manuscript provided him access to previous versions of the text which are not appropriate or relevant to discuss. The entire second paragraph should not have been published, as it is commenting on previous versions of the manuscript.
