​​​​​​​​​​Pediatric Physical Therapy is the first and only peer-reviewed journal devoted to this discipline.  The Journal provides a forum for scientific and professional exchange among researchers and practitioners throughout the world that represent subspecialties of the discipline, including early intervention, neonatology, pediatric sports and fitness, school physical therapy, acute care for seriously ill children, and the prevention of primary and secondary conditions that lead to disabling conditions. 

Official Journal of APTA Pediatrics, an Academy of the American Physical Therapy Association, Physiotherapia Paediatrica, and The Pediatric Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.

 

Scope
Pediatric Physical Therapy is an indexed international journal, that publishes peer reviewed research related to the practice of physical therapy for children with movement disorders. The editorial board is comprised of an international panel of researchers and clinical scholars that oversees a rigorous peer review process. The journal serves as the official journal for the pediatric physical therapy professional organizations in the Netherlands, Switzerland, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. The journal includes articles that support evidenced based practice of physical therapy for children with neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory and developmental conditions that lead to disorders of movement, and research reports that contribute to the foundational sciences of pediatric physical therapy, ranging from biomechanics and pediatric exercise science to neurodevelopmental science. To these ends the journal publishes original research articles, systematic reviews directed to specific clinical questions that further the science of physical therapy, clinical guidelines and case reports that describe unusual conditions or cutting edge interventions with sound rationale. The journal adheres to the ethical standards of theInternational Committee of Medical Journal Editors.

The international review panel is deeply committed to high standards and rigor in the peer review process with an eye toward providing feedback that would strengthen the authors’ reports.  The increasing number of submissions from around the world enables a rich exchange of information from both developed and developing countries. The journal provides a range of supplemental digital materials such as video and audio podcasts, and is committed to providing high quality translations that would broaden the reach of the journal. Digital materials are formatted for use on personal digital devices, allowing clinicians to access research information in daily practice.
