The psychometric criteria, which are divided into both the reliability of test scores and the validity of test scores, are briefly described. The BSID-II is evaluated, and literature on the BSID-II is applied to the psychometric criteria set. As a result of reviewing the literature, the clinical relevance of the psychometric strengths and limitations of the BSID-II is determined. © 1999 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Inc.
