The long-term effects of open reduction and innominate osteotomy on the size of the femoral head are assessed. Innominate osteotomy does not cause overgrowth of the femoral head, although open reduction results in mild coxa magna. The pathophysiology and significance of coxa magna are discussed. © Lippincott-Raven Publishers.
