The field of pediatric emergency medicine continues to grow and flourish, expanding to incorporate advances in technology.

Similarly, over the life of the journal, we transitioned our publication frequency from quarterly to bimonthly and then to monthly, with a concomitant increase in the annual number of pages.

More recently, in an effort to conserve resources, we markedly decreased the print publication of reviews, other than a single CME article monthly, and eliminated some special features, while moving others to online-only.

As we begin to publish volume 36, an increasing number of our readers prefer online publication, so we are taking the additional step of publishing some original research articles online-only with the abstracts for these articles to be printed in each issue. This step will not only keep us current with reading preferences but will have the added salutary effect of decreasing our backlog of accepted articles.
