The field of pediatric emergency medicine continues to grow and flourish, expanding to incorporate advances in technology.

Similarly, over the life of the journal, we have transitioned our publication frequency from quarterly to bimonthly and then to monthly, with a concomitant increase in the annual number of pages.

More recently, in an effort to increase the print publication of original research articles, while reducing the number of reviews, other than a single CME article monthly, and we have eliminated some features, while moving others to online-only. We hope that these online-only articles will match well with our readers' growing preference for this way of accessing our content.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have added a "Special Features" section to our print issue, focusing on different aspects of dealing with this virus. Articles featured in this section are given accelerated publication.
