Aims & Objectives:
The incidence of pressure ulcers (PUs) in pediatric patients with CHD (Congenital heart disease) ranks first among all diseases. This study developed a new skin bundle (SSKIN) and conducted in the population of CHD to prove its value in reducing the incidence of PUs.
SSKIN bundle was established by evidence-based methods. The skin outcomes of 319 children was recorded before intervention. After conducting nursing training program, the information of 312 children after surgery was collected.
The risk of morality with CHD patient was increased during the SSKIN implementation (U=0.004, P<0.05).During the bundle implementation, the forecast for high risk of PUs by nurses was improved (U=0.03, P<0.05). The ratios of PUs declined significantly (U=0.038, P<0.05), and also the stage I PUs decreased after SSKIN implementation (U=0.022, P<0.05).
The SSKIN bundle was effective for prevention CHD patients with high risk PUs, and also provided systematic and scientific methods for nurses to reduce the incidence of PUs.
