About the Journal

Aims and Scope

OTA International is an international, open access, orthopaedic trauma journal published on behalf of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA). The journal aims are to further knowledge, foster innovation, support research and education and promote quality and good clinical practice in the field of orthopaedic trauma within a global setting.

Contributions are welcome from surgeons and trauma clinicians, educators and researchers in the following areas: in all sub-specialty areas of Orthopaedic trauma, basic science and biomechanics, quality and safety systems, population health, and health policy and economics relevant to orthopaedic trauma.

The journal will also publish peer-reviewed articles and refereed abstracts arising out of the activities of the OTA, its various educational activities and conjoint meetings held with other organizations, subject to agreement. All published research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous reviewing by independent reviewers.

We are also open to submissions which may include original papers, reviews, meta analyses, technique reports, fracture registry and big data studies, case reports, reports on the initiatives and outputs of national and international orthopaedic trauma collaboratives and societies, studies on the development and validation of orthopaedic trauma outcome tools, policy statements, guidelines, commentaries, reports of sessions at meetings, refereed abstracts from our meetings and, subject to individual agreement, those meetings that we hold conjointly with other organizations.  Submissions are particularly welcome in respect of research undertaken in orthopaedic trauma in developing health economies and resource poor settings.

OTA International is an international, open access journal dedicated to advancing and disseminating knowledge and fostering innovation in the field of orthopaedic trauma within a global setting, thereby optimizing care of the patient with musculoskeletal injuries.

Vision

Through close association with the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and its International Section, OTA International will provide rapid electronic publication of peer-reviewed, high-quality research related to the field of orthopedic trauma surgery as a key partner of the international orthopaedic trauma community.

About the Journal

Through close association with the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and its International Section, as well as the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, OTA International is an open access forum for global orthopaedic trauma with rapid electronic publication of peer-reviewed, high-quality basic research and clinical studies related to the field of orthopedic trauma surgery. The journal provides both scientific innovation and educational material, disseminates clinical trial information and registry data and highlights key scientific advances presented at meetings held by global orthopaedic associations and trauma societies as well as national and international orthopaedic trauma collaboratives. The journal has high standards of peer review set by exceptional leaders within the orthopaedic community which allows for an insightful approach to presenting significant developments in trauma surgery throughout the world.
