Two formalized residency programs have been in operation for several years at the Optometric Center of New York and provide the basis for training and certification in specific areas of optometric practice. The structure of the Optometric Center programs is detailed and the attitudes and appraisals of both the residents and the staff members involved in the programs are analyzed.
