Results of personality profile tests given to entering optometry students at Pacific University have been compared to results from students in other fields as well as from people in selected vocations and professions including a randomly selected sample of optometrists and a special sample of highly successful optometrists. The usefulness of personality tests in predicting success and non-success in optometry school and optometric practice is discussed.
