ABSTRACT

A brief history of how contact lenses came to be used by the film industry as a form of eye makeup. Some of the technical rspects of fitting this type of contact lens are described as well as the types of theatrical effects made possible. A list of films in which cosmetic contact lenses have been used is presented along with the type of effect achieved.
