Otology & Neurotology Open (ONO) is an online only, gold open-access journal, created to expand the breadth of published research within the multidisciplinary fields of otology, neurotology, cranial base surgery, neural engineering, and materials science as these relate to ear disease. ONO will use multimedia and a variety of more novel educational methods to focus on cutting-edge research reporting on the technological advances impacting the diagnosis and treatment of disease related to the human ear. In addition, ONO will allow for the exploration of far forward ideas just being considered in laboratories, will feature controversial topics not seen in O&N, and will provide a forum for original research with immediate access to raw data. The editorial board is comprised of physicians, audiologists, engineers, and basic scientists. It is representative of the multidisciplinary nature of this publication and dedicated to helping promote the concept of fully open access journals for all authors and in particular those who must publish in open access journals. The open access nature of this journal makes it much more international in nature since it can be seen easily throughout the world.
