(in memory of William Harrington, Jr., MD)

A shining star fell down from the night sky.

We mourn sadly our loss and question why.

In his youth he was a wandering star.

Once on track, his talent propelled him far.

Friends and colleagues found him a unique soul,

absent-minded but fervent in his goal.

This bright doctor touched folks in many ways,

such as poor patients with cancer and AIDS.

He set out before him difficult tasks,

finding treatments for them, something to last.

Patients in despair found comfort and cheer,

a chance to live long with hope and not fear.

A bright star fell from the sky and is gone.

His legacy will forever live on.

It's not how long, but how he used time so

that will always make his memory glow.
