Cesarean section is usually performed under spinal anesthesia, but spinal anesthesia can result in hypotension, which may cause adverse effects in mothers and infants. The current study explored whether the perfusion index (PI), pleth variability index (PVI), heart rate, and parameters of heart rate variability (HRV) measured before the induction of spinal anesthesia could predict hypotension during cesarean section, which would give clinicians an opportunity to take preventive measures.
