Editor's PicksWhat is “Genuine” Failure of Neuraxial Anaesthesia?Stanford, SER Author Information Northumberland, UK Obstetric Anesthesia Digest 43(1):p 3-4, March 2023. | DOI: 10.1097/01.aoa.0000912200.71255.c5 Buy Metrics Abstract (Anaesthesia. 2022;77:523–526) The study conducted by Patel et al attempted to define inadequate neuraxial anesthesia (NA). While most medical staff present during cesarean delivery (CD) are comfortable in what can be a stressful environment, some clinicians may underestimate the distress of an awake patient during this major surgery and life event. Vogel and Hornitsky encourage understanding and responding to not only pain but also distress in order to create a bond of trust between the care providers and the patient.
