Patients at high risk for medical, obstetric, neuraxial, and/or general anesthetic-related morbidity may benefit from antenatal anesthetic evaluation. Although this service is provided at obstetric anesthesia clinics (OACs), few studies have examined the availability or characteristics of OACs. Consequently, the authors of the present study evaluated use, operational characteristics, and referral patterns (high-risk patients to anesthesiologists) of OACs at various academic centers.
