Parents who have suffered a perinatal loss experience a mourning process. Research has shown that traumatic or untimely death increases the risk of poor physical and mental health in those affected by the loss. Certainly the loss of a fetus or neonate would fit into this category. The aim of this study was to analyze mortality in mothers who have experienced a perinatal loss and explore possible underlying mechanisms.
