Sepsis continues to be a significant cause of maternal mortality. A better understanding of the factors associated with sepsis progressing to death could help physicians identify those patients at highest risk and develop policies and management strategies that could decrease mortality. The primary aim of this study was to identify the demographic, socioeconomic, medical, obstetric, and management factors associated with progression from pregnancy related severe sepsis to death.
