Amberly Ashly Solorzano, MPH, is Project Coordinator at Sostento Inc, an organization committed to increasing equitable access lifesaving healthcare services. Prior to her current position she worked as an Americorps Vista volunteer for the Lake Area Free Clinic, assisting with their mission to provide high-quality comprehensive health care to those in need. She conceptualized this article integrating evidence on body mass index from epidemiology and a social justice perspective to challenge its use in the clinical setting as a tool that was designed to use at the population, rather than individual, level.
Sarah Marie Stevens, BA, is transitioned from a career in corporate healthcare to found the Beautifull Project - a storytelling collective that invites women back to their bodies and into a world where we take up space without apology. She currently serves as Community Impact Officer for The Project of the Quad Cities (TPQC) and provides executive leadership, strategy development, planning, execution and accountability for TPQC’s community impact activities.
Colleen Marie Doak, PhD, is a Nutritional Epidemiologist (PhD) and Physical Anthropologist (MA). She is a professor in the Master of Public Health program at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA teaching epidemiology and biostatistics. Her research focuses on identifying and addressing the dual burdens of undernutrition and chronic disease.
