Communicating a Global Vision: The 16th International Congress of Dietetics

The mission of International Confederation of Dietetic Associations is to support national dietetics associations and their members, beyond national and regional boundaries. More than 2200 dietitians from 59 countries traveled to Sydney, Australia, to attend the 16th International Congress of Dietetics for both scientific programming and discussions embracing a global vision for advancing the profession.

Hot off the presses is an in-person report of the 2012 International Congress of Dietetics

Mary Hastings Hager, PhD, RD, is an independent consultant at Hager & Associates in Mendham, New Jersey. She previously worked as the director of Regulatory Affairs at the American Dietetic Association and served as interim vice president for their government affairs office in Washington, DC. She also was a professor of foods and nutrition at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey, where she was also founding associate dean of the College’s Graduate Programs. She currently is a full-time alien resident in Tokyo, Japan. She earned her bachelor’s degree (with distinction) at the University of Delaware and completed a dietetics internship at the University of Michigan Hospital and her MS and PhD degrees in nutrition with concentrations in endocrinology and physiological chemistry at the University of California, Davis.
