Discussion forum are used to facilitate student interactions, gain new knowledge, and engage students in the course, among other outcomes. Most faculty teaching online use a rubric to assess student participation in these forums. This video and article describe how nursing faculty created a standardized rubric to be used across all of their online nursing programs (RN-BSN, MSN, and DNP) to objectively assess learning in discussion forum, postings.

More people are living with dementia, and dementia education is important to prepare nursing students to care for this population. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a virtual dementia experience on nursing students' attitudes and empathy for people with dementia, dementia knowledge, and self-confidence for dementia care. Open educational resources (OERs) increase access to high-quality academic learning materials and promote affordable education in nursing.
