Meta-analysis should be considered as a research experience alternative to primary and secondary analyses. All three require the same steps discussed in this article, but meta-analysis will advance the body of nursing knowledge by statistically integrating the results of many smaller studies. The author discusses how faculty can help students identify appropriate topics for this type of research. Relevant nursing examples of its use are also discussed.
