Splenic Infarction Detection by ln-111 Leukocyte ScintigraphySUD, AVINASH M., M.D.; SHULKIN, BARRY L., M.D.Clinical Nuclear Medicine: October 1992 - Volume 17 - Issue 10 - p 822 Interesting Images: PDF Only Buy Abstract Author InformationAuthors Splenic infarctions have been characterized on Tc-99m sulfur colloid liver spleen imaging as wedged-shaped defects at the base of the capsular surface of the spleen. The authors describe the findings of splenic infarction in an 11-year-old girl with polyarteritis nodosa who underwent ln-111 leukocyte scintigraphy. Both planar and SPECT images showed lack of uptake in the infarcted portion of the spleen. The findings were correlated with subsequent CT imaging.
