A case of medullary carcinoma of the thyroid with high calcilonin levels (11.8 μg/l) and bony metastases seen with Tc-99m (V)-DMSA is presented. It demonstrates the usefulness of this imaging agent in detecting metastases of poorly differentiated carcinoma of the thyroid. In this case of a 69-year-old woman, Tc-99m (V)-DMSA Imaging, In conjunction with serum calcitonin levels and his-tologic evaluation, helped to establish the definitive diagnosis.
