ABSTRACT THE PURPOSE OF THIS COMMENTARY IS TO PROVIDE A BASIC OVERVIEW FOR COACHES AND STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PRACTITIONERS TO USE IN COLLABORATION WITH THE ATHLETIC TRAINING STAFF TO MODIFY THE RISK OF LOW-BACK INJURIES IN THEIR ATHLETES. SAFETY, SCREENING, AND STRENGTHENING ARE 3 KEY AREAS DISCUSSED, AND EXAMPLES OF PRACTICAL EXERCISES ARE PROVIDED THAT MAY BE IMPLEMENTED IN A COACHING ENVIRONMENT.
