Cervical disorders affect up to 70% of the population and have a recurrence rate of up to 38%. Researchers have reported an association between impaired muscle performance of the deep neck flexors and cervical disorders. The authors present a three stage program designed to improve strength, endurance, and activation of the deep neck flexors that is applicable to the broad athletic population.

William J. Hanney is an Instructor at the University of Central Florida in the Physical Therapy Program.

Morey J. Kolber is an assistant professor in the physical therapy department at Nova Southeastern University.
