In addition to a classification of skeletal dysplasia, we provide details on conditions that frequently require neurosurgical intervention for decompression and fusion, including achondroplasia, Morquio syndrome, osteogenesis imperfecta, and other rare craniospinal deformities. Particular emphasis is placed on surgical indications, surgical approaches, and controversial aspects of treatment. The potential for improvement of evaluation and treatment of these conditions is also described when possible. © Williams & Wilkins 1993. All Rights Reserved.
