A Collaborative Approach to Prepare Nursing Students to Implement Relationship-Based Care

The author proposes the use of a collaborative approach to prepare nursing students to implement relationship-based care through the use of a dedicated education unit. This collaboration would use the phases of relationship-based care, Benner's novice-to-expert stages, and the semesters of the typical upper division nursing curriculum. The ways in which relationship-based care can enhance the learning process for nursing students are discussed.
