Ultraviolet irradiation damages DNA of the skin and this is causally related to accelerated skin aging and skin cancers. Thus, enhancing cellular DNA repair capacity would likely reduce photodamage. T4 endonuclease V, oxoguanine glycosylase 1, photolyase, DNA oligonucleotides partially homologues to the telomeres are discussed for their DNA repair and photoprotection capacity.
