When mothers and babies are discharged from the hospital postbirth, they need a lot of information, including details of signs and symptoms of potential complications and when to call their nurse midwife or physician if they suspect a complication has occurred. This study suggests that maternity nurses need more education about postpartum complications and more time to spend with new mothers teaching them about potential complications before they are discharged from the hospital after birth.
