The World Health Organization has promulgated new guidelines for the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative. Our breastfeeding expert, Dr. Spatz, explains the changes and the status of the guidelines being adopted in the United States.

Dr. Spatz is a Professor of Perinatal Nursing and the Helen M. Shearer Professor of Nutrition at the University of Pennsylvania. She holds a joint appointment with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) where she is a nurse researcher, director of the lactation program, and clinical coordinator of CHOP's Mothers' Milk Bank.
