Unique Features Distinguishing JWHPT
JWHPT exists to disseminate the science and clinical practice to advance the domain of knowledge particular to pelvic health and women’s health physical therapy. This specialized area of physical therapy practice requires extensive post graduate education and training. Translating scientific theory into practice and education, JWHPT provides the global community of physical therapists with the foundation for evidenced-based practice for the provision of physical therapy to address the unique needs of women and pelvic health for all. The core journal articles include original research as well as integration and interpretation from the diverse areas of study that contribute to the science underlying the physical therapy management of persons with functional deficits due to the interrelationship of the genitourinary, neuromusculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems. The reviewer pool draws heavily from specialists in this community with demonstrated content expertise, and for that reason the reviewers have a strong dedication to the quality of journal content. This dedication manifests as outstanding reviews and guidance intended to maximize the impact of the journal content. To augment the core article content, JWHPT offers digital media in the form of online videos and social media to further the integration of scientific information into clinical practice. Digital materials are formatted for use on personal digital devices, allowing clinicians to access research information in daily practice.
