Gregory Jurkovich, MD, FACS

congratulates Gregory Jurkovich, MD, as Reviewer of the Year. Gregory “Jerry” Jurkovich, MD, FACS, is the Donant Professor of Trauma Surgery and Vice-Chairman for Clinical Affairs and Quality for the Department of Surgery at UC Davis Health System in Sacramento, California.
Prior to relocating to California, Dr. Jurkovich served as Director of Surgery and Trauma Services at Denver Health, and the Rockwell Professor of Surgery at the University of Colorado. That position followed nearly 24 years at the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle as Professor and Chief of Trauma. He began his surgical career as Chief of Trauma at the University of South Alabama.
Dr. Jurkovich is a past-president of the AAST, where he is well known for developing the Acute Care Surgery Committee and its fellowship training paradigm, and editor of the textbook "ACS Surgery: Principles and Practices." He is also the current Chair of the National Trauma Institute (NTI) and Co-Chair of the Coalition for National Trauma Research (CNTR). He has also been the President of the Western Trauma Association and Vice Chairman of the ACS Committee on Trauma.
