This is the second primary research focus issue for Clinical Spine Surgery, and in this issue all articles will focus on the challenges faced by physicians when treating lumbar spinal pathology. Articles will discuss how medical comorbidities affect the outcomes of lumbar spine surgery, as well as the management of common complications following lumbar spine surgery. In addition, there is an article discussing how to manage patients with persistently symptomatic spondylolysis, and multiple articles discussing the benefits of different surgical techniques for the lumbar spine. It is the editorial board’s hope that this issue will help our readers use an evidence-based approach when caring for disorders of the lumbar spine.
