Under the direction of the new editorial leadership, Clinical Spine Surgery, formerly the Journal of Spinal Disorders and Techniques, has undergone dramatic changes over the last 18 months. It is our goal to provide our readers with impactful articles that will help our readers provide the highest spine care to their patients. Over the next 3 months, we will publish focus issues on primary research that will help guide the treatment of specific spinal pathology.

The first focus issue is on cervical spine pathology, and in this issue you will find articles that will help council patients and guide treatment for common cervical spine conditions. Articles identify risk factors for complications following anterior cervical procedures, clinical outcomes, and costs associated with treatment of cervical pathology, and the risks and benefits of different surgical treatments.
