ALSIO VIEJO, CA (January 2, 2002) – OSSUR, a worldwide leading supplier of prosthetic devices, announced it has redesigned the Mauch® Rounded Knee Frame in order to provide an enhanced appearance and allow for easier finishing. The improved frame replaces the current GaitMaster™ Jr. LowProfile frame.

“Based on feedback we received from our customers we enhanced the Mauch|Pr Rounded Knee frame to make it an even more versatile product,” says Tasos Georgopoulos, Product Manager Knee Division. The new frame boasts the same excellent quality, durabilty and utilizes the same components as the previous frame. The frame uses roller bearings at the knee axis and cylinder attachment points for a quiet, smooth function and a natural feel.

The all aluminum frame has a net weight of 564 grams (1.24 lbs) and can be utilized for patients weighing up to 147 kg (325 lbs). The Mauch® Rounded Knee is available with swing-and-stance or swing-only; solid or split knee shaft; and threaded or non-threaded 4-hole pattern and the knee bracket. The flexion resistance of the SNS unit in stance phase quickly reaches maximum resistance while still allowing movement of the knee. This active yielding stance allows for stumble recovery, eases transtions from standing to sitting and allows amputees to descend ramps step over step.
