Hello, JPO readers! Thank you to everyone who responded to the call for peer reviewers that we published in the last issue of JPO. Since that time, several dozen new qualified individuals have joined our reviewer panel. However, if you are still considering serving as a peer reviewer, please email me at [email protected].

I would like to take this opportunity to put out a call for the submission of papers for publication in JPO. As you can imagine, the success of a scientific journal such as the JPO depends on both the quantity and quality of manuscript submissions. The mission of the JPO is to promote, enhance, and disseminate information pertinent to the science and practice of prosthetics and orthotics. In general, the publication of scientific and clinical articles is essential for the dissemination of new knowledge to stakeholders who can recognize and appreciate its value. In the field of prosthetics and orthotics, newly published clinical or research findings can be implemented by the practitioner to improve a prosthesis/orthosis user’s quality of life, increase the quality and efficiency of care delivered to the client, and influence reimbursement and policy. Our goal is to provide you, the reader, with information that you can readily apply to your clinical practice or research studies. Who better to determine the content of JPO than the loyal readership? Therefore, I would encourage you to submit your manuscripts to JPO for peer review and possible publication. The content can focus on clinical case studies/series that describe innovative approaches for fitting prostheses and orthoses, a review of current literature on a clinically relevant topic, a technical note about a new component or fitting technique, or a description of original research/development in the field of prosthetics and orthotics. Similarly, please encourage your colleagues and other professionals in the field to prepare and submit manuscripts to JPO. Specific information for authors about the preparation of manuscripts and publishing in JPO can be found on either the Academy’s ( or Lippincott Williams & Wilkins’ ( Website.
