As Editor of JPO, I was excited to preview two articles for this month’s issue that I hope will form the beginning of an ongoing practice of highlighting current case reviews. As orthotists and prosthetists, we are presented with unique and challenging patients, often on a daily basis.
These encounters lead to and require creative and innovative solutions. A great practitioner once taught me that orthotists and prosthetists are “problem solvers.” It is my goal to bring to the pages of JPO that science which inspires our patients, our payors, and our colleagues. I invite all practitioners in Orthotics and Prosthetics to submit case studies that will elevate and enhance our current body of knowledge.
I thank all of our authors for supplying informative articles, with particular thanks to Gerald Stark, BSME, CP, FAAOP and Hamid Bateni, PhD, CPO, whose reports provide both a sound basis for future research and a model for other innovative case reviews. I hope you find these articles as interesting and thought provoking as I have.
