Disclosure: The authors declare no conflict of interest. L.B. is Chair of the Foundation 3D-Printing in Developing Countries; M.v.d.S., T.J.J.M., and M.P.G. are board members of the foundation. Part of this work constituted a section of M.v.d.S.'s master thesis.
Funding information: In autumn 2019, L.B. and M.v.d.S. conducted a successful crowdfunding campaign in collaboration with the Dutch Albert Schweitzer Fund (NASF), collecting €15,000. With this amount, an MPP Solar off-grid inverter combined with two 12 V/220 Ah Victron Energy gel batteries was financed to prevent power changes and outages of the printer. In addition, prosthetic parts were purchased. Finally, we supported local employees with a small salary contribution for their indispensable work, and a car was donated to the Masanga Medical Research Unit.
An internship allowance for M.v.d.S. was obtained from the University of Twente for covering cost of ethical approval and travel expenses. The 3D-printer and printing material were donated by Ultimaker (Ultimaker BV, Geldermalsen, the Netherlands). The 3D-scanner was donated by Shining 3D (Einscanner Pro Plus, Shining 3D Technology, Hangzhou, China).
