Dr. Silk's areas of focus include genomic epidemiology, public health surveillance, and outbreak investigations for prevention and control of tuberculosis and invasive bacterial pathogens. He is a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice. He also leads molecular epidemiology activities in CDC's Division of Tuberculosis Elimination as a commissioned officer in the US Public Health Service.
